NFD Korea and EFD Sign MOU with Chungnam Province and Dangjin City for 100MW AI Data Center Cluster
The agreement advances the final 100MW component of the 300MW first-phase AI data center cluster in the Songsan 2 General Industrial Complex.
Chungnam Province, Dangjin City, NFD Korea, and EFD signed a memorandum of understanding on September 9 at the Chungnam Provincial Government Office to develop the 100MW Building C of the AI data center cluster in the Songsan 2 General Industrial Complex in Dangjin.
The agreement establishes the project framework for Building C and completes the lineup for the three-building, 300MW first phase. Buildings A and B account for 200MW, with pre-construction work already underway for Building A and construction scheduled to begin in November. Transformers and other core power infrastructure are also being secured for phased delivery between 2027 and 2028.
The cluster is being advanced by a private investment consortium of six specialist companies spanning land, construction, electrical equipment, finance, and operations. The project partners are targeting sequential completion of the full 300MW first phase by the third quarter of 2028 while also exploring future expansion with Chungnam Province and Dangjin City.
Alongside the data center development, the partners plan to establish a regional innovation ecosystem encompassing operations training, joint research in power management, cooling efficiency and AI infrastructure, and startup incubation. NFD Korea expects the campus to provide the scale and delivery speed required by global hyperscalers and to support Dangjin's growth as a major AI infrastructure hub in Korea.
